ASTRA automatic strapper for packages and cartons

ASTRA is an automatic strapper: place your package on the table under the arch and press start. The machine automatically feeds the strap around your load, tightens it, heat-seals the strap, and cuts it. The operator does not have to thread the strap by hand or handle the weld area.

This strapper uses 9–12 mm PP strapping from a coil with a 200 mm core. The strap is heat-sealed at a preset temperature, and you can adjust the tension with a dial, from gentle for cartons to tight for heavier packages.

The arch is available in three sizes: 600 × 400 mm, 800 × 600 mm, or 1000 × 800 mm. The arch size determines the largest package you can strap. The smallest package size is 80 mm wide by 30 mm high. The table height is 800 mm, matching standard conveyors and packing tables.

Each strapping cycle takes less than two seconds, so the strapper keeps up with fast packing lines. The machine is built on a steel frame, measuring 1250 × 600 × 1510 mm and weighing about 185 kg. It is mounted on casters with floor locks and operates on either single-phase 220 V or three-phase 380 V power.

Operating the ASTRA strapping machine

1. Place the strap coil onto the reel under the table and feed the strap into the strapping machine until the start button lights up.
2. Turn on the strapping machine and allow the heater to reach temperature; the exhaust fan runs while the machine is powered on.
3. Adjust the strap tension using the dial: use less tension for cartons, more for heavier loads.
4. Set your package on the table under the arch and press the green start button.
5. The strapping machine feeds the strap around the package, applies tension, seals and cuts the strap. Remove the package; if not used for 15 seconds, the motor shuts off automatically.

Settings and maintenance

• Tension. Rotate the tension dial to your preferred setting; higher numbers give tighter straps, with a maximum tension over 90 kg.
• Weld temperature. Factory-set for the strap we supply, typically no adjustment needed.
• Strap width. The strapping machine is designed for 9–12 mm strap. Using a different width requires changing several parts, so let us know your strap width before ordering.
• Strap out of guide. Use the reverse feed switch to back out the strap and reload, or move the sealer with the jog button until it resets.
• Maintenance. Always turn off the strapping machine before servicing. Keep the strap path clean; the machine is lubricant-free and the feed rollers must remain dry and oil-free.
