This is the disc brush designed for the J45 floor scrubber. It’s the component that makes contact with the floor: the machine supplies water and cleaning solution, but the bristles do the actual scrubbing.

The brush measures 20 inches (about 508 mm), which provides the machine with a 510 mm cleaning width. The J45 uses one brush at a time.

The brush spins at 180 rpm powered by a 550 W brush motor. The bristles are engineered to withstand this speed and maintain even pressure across the entire disc, ensuring the machine cleans the whole area and not just the edges.

Brushes are consumable parts. When the bristles become short and spread out, cleaning takes longer and the results become uneven. That’s the right time to replace the brush—don’t wait until it’s completely worn out.

How to change the brush

1. Park the floor machine on a flat surface and lift the brush disc off the floor.
2. Turn the power on and briefly press the brush button: the disc will rotate and release the brush from the coupling.
3. Turn the machine off and remove the old brush from under the chassis.
4. Hold the new brush level under the coupling, align the drive lugs, and push it up until it clicks into place.
5. Lower the disc and test the machine on a small area to make sure the pressure is even and the chassis runs smoothly.

Care and replacement guidelines

• Keep it level. The brush must be horizontal when installed, and the brush motor must be off. If the disc is mounted at an angle, it won’t seat properly and could damage the coupling.
• Verify height adjustment. The brush disc can be adjusted front to back. After installing a new brush, make sure the disc sits parallel to the floor.
• Rinse after each shift. Dirt and cleaning solution will dry in the bristles and make them stiff. Rinse the brush thoroughly and let it dry off the floor.
• Do not store with bristles down. The bristles will become misshapen and the brush will not clean evenly after that.
• Replace when bristles wear down. When the bristles are worn, they spread out and lose cleaning pressure in the center, causing you to go over the same area twice.
• Choose the right brush for your floor. If the brush is too stiff, it will polish the surface coating; if too soft, it will not remove embedded dirt.
