Use-Case – GT-XTREME Automatic Battery Strapping Tool vs NEO Plus Battery Strapping Tool

  • Over 50% faster pallet cycles
  • Built for harsh outdoor use
  • Multi-mode control for any load
  • Less maintenance, brushless motor
  • Under 6-month payback vs NEO Plus

The Challenge

A mid-sized construction materials manufacturer in the northern region was operating three loading docks, shipping precast components and bagged aggregates secured with 16–19mm PET strap. Their current battery strapping tool class, represented by the NEO Plus, limited throughput during peak periods and had difficulty coping with dust, moisture, and continuous outdoor use around the clock.

Management considered moving up to the GT-XTREME Automatic Battery Strapping Tool to reduce pallet cycle times by more than 50%, ensure consistent strap quality in rugged outdoor areas, and support nonstop shifts without increasing staffing. The main criteria were cycle time, reliability in tough environments, and total payback time.

Product B: NEO Plus Battery Strapping Tool

The NEO Plus features adjustable strap tension from 600–4000N, supports strap widths of 16–19mm, and delivers a tensioning speed of 225 mm/s. For a typical construction pallet with a tension length of about 8–9 m, this results in an overall cycle time (inserting, tensioning, welding, cutting) of approximately 60 seconds per pallet in real-world conditions.

At 60% utilization over two 8-hour shifts (about 9.6 hours of productive time), the NEO Plus can consistently handle around 480 pallets per day. With a purchase price of €1,495, it is a cost-effective solution, but its sensitivity to dust and less rugged build lead to more unexpected stoppages and cleaning requirements in outdoor environments.

Product A: GT-XTREME Automatic Battery Strapping Tool

The GT-XTREME transforms productivity with a tensioning speed of 9.0 m/min (150 mm/s) and optimized automatic and soft operation modes. In practice, its multi-mode automation reduces total pallet cycle time to about 28 seconds per pallet for standard 16–19mm PET applications.

At the same 60% utilization across two 8-hour shifts, the GT-XTREME easily processes approximately 1,030 pallets per day at 60% of its top capacity, more than doubling effective output. Its brushless motor with encoder, stainless steel parts, up to 300 cycles per battery charge, and BMS-managed Li-Ion battery make it much better suited for continuous use in dusty, humid construction or lumber yards.

ROI & Value Analysis

Product B Performance:

Product A Performance:

With the GT-XTREME, the facility can either handle over 550 additional pallets per day with the same workforce, or complete 480 pallets in less than half the time. This means a labor savings of about €213 per day for the same output, or the ability to reassign staff to higher-value activities.

Investment Comparison:
Product B price: €1,495
Product A price: €2,495
Price difference: €1,000
Daily savings with Product A (labor time): ≈€118/day (a conservative blended estimate after considering breaks and inefficiencies)
Payback on the price difference: less than 6 months even at moderate usage levels

Verdict

Choose Product B if your budget is strictly below €2,000 and your daily volume remains under 300 pallets per day in mostly clean, indoor settings.

Choose Product A if you use 16–19mm PET/PP strap in demanding outdoor construction, metal, or lumber environments, require dependable 24/7 operation, and want to reduce per-pallet cycle times by more than half with a payback period under six months. For most medium- to high-volume operations, the GT-XTREME is clearly the superior long-term investment.

“Switching to GT-XTREME cut our pallet strapping time in half and finally gave us a tool that withstands dust, rain, and overnight shifts without constant adjustments.” — Marco R., Operations Manager, EdilNord Prefabbricati, Bergamo (IT)
